Job Description

The Disney ABC Television Group (DATG) is home to all of The Walt Disney Company‘s worldwide entertainment and news television properties. The Group includes the ABC Television Network (including ABC Entertainment Group and ABC News divisions); the Disney Channels Worldwide global kids’ TV business and ABC Family; as well as television distribution divisions Disney ABC Domestic Television and Disney ABC ESPN Television. The Disney ABC Television Group also manages the Radio Disney Network, as well the Company’s equity interest in A&E Television Networks.

Technology & Operations supports several lines of business within Disney ABC Networks Group including: Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior, ABC Family, and Radio Disney. Technology & Operations is responsible for the operational teams that broadcast and distribute media, as well as the technology teams that support those operations.

Interns will work alongside cross-functional teams towards initiatives that improve operational efficiencies and / or introduce new technology capabilities to business units within Disney ABC Networks Group. Intern projects are selected based on the current initiatives critical for the organization. Each intern will be responsible for their own project, for which they must design a plan, execute on that plan, and present results to executives. Technology & Operations team values candidates that will provide fresh perspective and innovative insight to our initiatives.

Technology & Operations is a multi-faceted organization, seeking candidates with a strong interest in the media industry and experience in one or more of the following focus areas:

Operational Focus: Research, analysis and improvement of workflows. Identify opportunities for new efficiencies. Research business or operational requirements for technology initiatives.
Technology Focus: Solve technical challenges in a media environment. Help introduce automation to manual systems and processes. Support system integrations and user acceptance testing. Innovative tool development.
Project Management Focus: Liaison with both operational and technical teams. Manage target dates and expectations. Independently identify potential impacts of new and on-going initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute project plans, present updates to project
  • Manage communications and meetings with key stakeholders for initiatives
  • Ad-hoc analysis: operation or technology-related.
  • Build team / executive recommendations based on results of analysis.
  • Create Gantt charts and keep track of project milestones and deliverables
  • Ability to perform one or more of the following functions:
  • Business analysis of large-scale initiatives, Build business case study.
  • Financial analysis of large-scale projects, identify measurements for ROI
  • Create standard procedures and identify best practices for new and innovative project rollouts.

Basic Qualifications

  • All students must be eligible to work in the US
  • All students must be at least 18 years old
  • You must currently be enrolled in an accredited MBA program and taking at least one class – OR – be a recent graduate of an accredited MBA program within the last six (6) months to qualify for this internship.
  • All students must be available to work at least 20 hours/week.
  • All students must be available during the months of September through December for the 12 week program.
  • All students must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
  • Advanced Microsoft Office using Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and interest in media production and distribution
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter
