Application Operations Officer – EIOPA

eiopa-logoThe European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) is currently inviting applications for a position as Application Operations Officer for its Headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany.

EIOPA is at the heart of insurance and occupational pensions supervision in the European Union. It is part of the European System of Financial Supervision, consisting of three European Supervisory Authorities and the European Systemic Risk Board. EIOPA is an independent advisory body to the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission.

EIOPA’s core responsibilities are to support the stability of the financial system, transparency of markets and financial products as well as the protection of insurance policyholders, pension scheme members and their beneficiaries. The successful candidate will join the young European Agency EIOPA which has a friendly, close-knit office of international staff, located in Frankfurt.

Application Operations Officer 

Major purpose

The Corporate Support Unit is responsible for supporting the operational work of the Agency, enhancing its ability to act as a modern, competent and professional organisation, with effective governance arrangements, efficient processes and a positive reputation.
It is composed of the following teams:

  • Finance and Procurement
  • Human Resources
  • IT & Corporate Services

Within the Corporate Support Unit and as part of the IT & Corporate Services Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of business solutions, handling the
incident ticketing system, identification and resolution of system problems, successful and timely IT implementations, coordination of change controls and migration processes and drafting and validating
technical designs and specifications.
Main responsibilities

  • Monitoring and maintaining business solutions end to end, including ensuring high availability and security, optimising configurations, installing maintenance updates, performing technical system checks, tracking and reporting availability metrics on an ongoing basis, writing handover reports, etc.;
  • Regularly checking the incident ticketing system and taking appropriate action, including the escalation of high or critical priority tickets;
  • Identifying the cause of system issues and resolving them by applying known first-line fixes; analysing and documenting issues that cannot be fixed at the first level for escalation to the second line; taking proactive measures to address faults and document actions taken; flag risks and issues;
  • Co-operating with business owners, IT project managers, development teams and other operations personnel to ensure successful and timely IT implementations;
  • Coordinating change control and migration processes from testing to production environments following the Agency’s policies and procedures;
  • Drafting and validating technical designs, in particular for EIOPA’s IT infrastructure and backend systems (e.g. Windows Server, MS SQL, SharePoint, etc.);
  • Drafting technical specifications for tender procedures and participating in evaluations; purchasing of hardware and software from existing framework contracts;
  • Any other tasks as required.

Place of employment: Frankfurt am Main, Germany

Monthly basic salary: 3.170,61 EUR plus specific allowances where applicable
