Assistant Press Officer – Delegation of the EU to South Africa

The Delegation of the European Union to South Africa is looking for an Assistant Press Officer (electronic communications) to be based at its offices in Groenkloof, Pretoria.

Qualifications & Experience:

While a minimum of a school leaving cerificate (matriculation) is required, a tertiary qualification in communications, journalism or related field will be a distinct advantage.  Applicants will additionally be required to have no less than two years progressive experience in working with websites, new media platforms, and electronic publishing.  Prior work experience must include working with Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Flickr as well as othe rsocial media platforms.  Experience in developing content for mobile applications/platforms is advanageous.

Skills & Knowledge:

The applicant is required to be computer literate (notable on, but no necessarily limited to, MS Office software), and to possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including editorial, branding and public relations skills.  The candidate will be able to exhibit expertise in electronic media design, the use of online analytical tools and social media techniques.  The applicant will have the skills to creatively develop and maintain the EU Delegation’s electronic media and web-based platforms.

The applicant will exhibit fluency in English.

The applicant will have knowledge of the European Union and its relations with South Africa.
