All-round Internship – International Centre for Counter-Terrorism – The Hague (ICCT)




Start date:1 September 2016 for a period of six months
Working hours: Part time/full time depending on availability (subject to flexibility). Minimally 24 hours per week.
Location: The Hague, The Netherlands
Allowance: A small stipend of approx. 300 Euros per month (in case of 36 hours per week) will be available to the successful applicant.
About ICCT
The International Centre for Counter-Terrorism – The Hague (ICCT) is an independent think and do tank providing multidisciplinary policy advice and practical, solution – oriented implementation support on prevention and the rule of law, two vital pillars of effective counter – terrorism.
The focus of ICCT’s work is on themes at the intersection of countering violent extremism and criminal justice sector responses, as well as human rights related aspects of counter – terrorism. The centre connects experts, policymakers, civil society actors and practitioners from different fields by providing a platform for productive collaboration, practical analysis, and exchange of experiences and expertise, with the ultimate aim of identifying innovative and comprehensive approaches to preventing and countering terrorism.
Position summary
ICCT is seeking an all – round Intern to support its The Hague office. S/He will be primarily responsible for providing assistance to ICCT’s team in its day-to-day functioning. This mainly concerns communication, logistical and secretarial tasks. Communication tasks include contributing to external communication with ICCT’s partners and visitors and online communication, such as ICCT’s social media accounts, monthly newsletters and website.
Other duties may include editing ICCT’s publications, assisting with the organisation of events, assisting in background research on a range of topics, and other ad hoc tasks.
This multitude of responsibilities will require the intern to be highly organised and independent with the ability to communicate effectively. The successful applicant should expect to gain direct exposure to the counter-terrorism work of a dynamic think tank at the intersection of security, politics and development.
