Research Assistant in Health Services Research

This post offers an excellent opportunity for a health services researcher, with a growing interest in outcome assessment, to join the team in the Bristol Centre for Surgical Research which is directed by Professor Jane Blazeby. There will be opportunities to work across several projects, however, the main focus of this post is to work closely with Dr Kerry Avery and Professor Blazeby on a multi-centre programme, funded by the National Institute for Health Research of England (NIHR), called ‘eRAPID’ (electronic patient self-Reporting of Adverse-events: Patient Information and aDvice). The aim of eRAPID is to develop and evaluate an integrated web-system for patients to self-report adverse events during and after cancer treatment.

The post holder must have experience in health services research, which may include an applied health services research setting. Experience in the collection, handling and analyses of quantitative and qualitative data is also necessary, and this should include expertise in at least one qualitative analytical technique (e.g. content analysis, conversation analysis, framework analysis). The ability to use data analytic packages to summarise quantitative data is also required. The successful candidate will be a capable, hard-working motivated individual, who is able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Excellent communication, written and interpersonal skills are essential. Opportunities for career development and training are plentiful.

Salary: £31,342 – £35,256 per annum pro rata
