Migration Management Diploma Programme (MMDP)

Maastricht_University_logoThe Migration Management Diploma Programme (MMDP) is a three-month course designed for practitioners and civil servants working in the field of migration and/or asylum.

The programme includes three different courses:

  1. Migration management and protection
  2. Migration and development
  3. Migration Policy.

Classes within MMDP are provided by world renowned scholars and practitioners such as Hein de Haas, Ronald Skeldon, Nicolaas de Zwaager and Anja Wiesbrok on a range of issues relating to migration. Moreover the MMDP aims to provide a platform for networking through field trips across Europe including a tour of Dutch Ministries in The Hague, EU institutions in Brussels, the UN and other intergovernmental agencies in Geneva, and Schiphol airport.

MMDP is sponsored by the Dutch ministry of Foreign Affairs, which offers 10 MMDP-scholarships per year to government officials from 40 developing countries with at least three years’ experience in the field of migration and/or asylum.

The programme is also open to practitioners and students interested in migration issues.

Scholarships:
This scholarship programme is available to government officials, with a minimum of three years’ work experience in the field of migration and/or asylum, from the following countries:

The Host Institute
UNU-MERIT and MGSoG form a research and training institute of United Nations University. The institute is also part of Maastricht University, based in southeast Netherlands. The institute’s research mission is to provide new insights into the
economic, social and political aspects of growth and development in local and international contexts. Its research and training programmes address a broad range of questions including the economics of technology and innovation, national and international governance, intellectual property protection, social protection policy, knowledge creation and diffusion, and migration.
