Your Responsibilities

  • Defining and maintaining data collections (definition of methodologies for data collection including EFSA’s data reporting formats, definition and implementation of data quality controls, implementation and management of data collections and controlled terminologies within the EFSA’s data collection tools);
  • Producing and maintaining extraction, transformation and loading procedures to the EFSA data warehouse;
  • Producing and maintaining data reporting and data analysis with the different tools available in EFSA;
  • Supporting the data providers (users of the EFSA’s data collection tools), including participation in help-desk activities, guidance material production and training;
  • Supporting the development of EFSA IT tools particularly in the field of defining business requirements and performing user acceptance and validation;
  • Internal co-operation with other EFSA units in the coordination, planning, development, harmonization and implementation of activities of data management, as well as external communication; maintaining close liaison with the Member States, the European Commission, EU agencies and the organisations responsible of submitting data to EFSA.

Your Skills

Qualifications

  • A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least three (3) years attested by a diploma in one of the following fields: informatics, statistics, biology, mathematics, bioscience, food technology, nutrition or related areas.

Experience

  • At least one (1) year of relevant and proven professional experience gained after obtaining the diploma

Experience and knowledge

  1. Experience in data collection, data validation, data management and data analysis in an area relevant to EFSA’s remit or similar preferably within a multicultural environment;
  2. Experience of statistical software and code development in R or in SAS;
  3. Knowledge of advanced use of MS Excel (e.g. pivot tables, VLOOKUP);
  4. Knowledge of all of the following languages and tools:
    1. Databases, data modelling and data query (SQL);
    2. Data warehouses and business intelligence tools;
    3. XML and derived languages (e.g. XML documents, XSLT, XML schemas, XSD, XSLT, RDF).
  5. Knowledge (by training or experience) of any of the following subjects is
    considered an asset:

    1. SAS Data Integration Studio;
    2. Oracle databases;
    3. Microstrategy Business Intelligence software;
    4. ArcGIS geographical information systems;
    5. Provision of specifications for software development;
    6. Project management;
    7. Molecular typing data generation; experience with BioNumerics system;
    8. Veterinary drug residues data collection.
