Communication Officer – EASME

ec-logoApplications are invited to create a reserve list of maximum 10 candidates for the post of Communication Officer at the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME, formerly EACI).

OVERALL PURPOSE
The Communication sector in Unit C2 (Administration) is responsible for communications on the Agency’s programmes and for the EASME internal and external communications. The job holder will work under the supervision of the responsible Head of Sector and Head of Unit.
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
1 – Communication work plan
– Contribute to drawing up, managing, implementing and evaluating the annual communication work plan. Organise and analyse studies, surveys, assessments and other feedback tools to monitor and revise the communication work plan;
– Take part in the relevant networks and exchanges with other Agencies and European
Commission services.
2 – External communication tools and channels
– Gather information and data, and produce and distribute messages through appropriate channels (electronic, print, audiovisual etc.);
– Draft and edit messages, articles and texts for external audiences, including traditional and social media;
– Organise, run and evaluate large scale events and meetings;
– Contribute to the updating, developing and editing of public websites and other online
channels in cooperation with the EASME webmaster;
– Build up, manage and improve media relations e.g. interacting with journalists; preparing suitable messages, press releases, info packages, briefings, articles and background papers; organising press events; evaluating impacts, etc. ;
– Assist with the preparation of speeches, slides and presentations;
– Give presentations.
3 – Procurements and contract management
– Manage public procurement, contracts and projects to provide external communication services and products (such as online tools, audio-visual productions, publications or visuals) by external service providers;
– Deliver communication projects on budget and time: draw up contract specifications, negotiate offers, prepare contract files, supervise service providers, monitor the delivery and use of results, and evaluate external services.

4- Internal communication, advice, support and control

– Develop and update the intranet;
– Provide colleagues with communications expertise and support on both visual and editorial aspects, developing and harnessing their external communication skills;
– Contribute to in-house trainings, workshops and presentations related to external communications;
– Draw up and improve external communication procedures and rules, visual identities, house-styles and editorial policies and encourage their correct application.
5- Other tasks
– Contribute to other communication activities where such contribution is deemed necessary.
