Applicants wishing to work on related subjects such as LHC phenomenology or accelerator physics could also be considered.

Role Description

The CERN-Japan Fellowship programme is for young researchers of Japanese nationality or permanent residence status of Japan who want to work primarily in LHC data analysis and physics studies. Applicants wishing to work on related subjects such as LHC phenomenology or accelerator physics could also be considered. In view of Japan’s commitment to the ATLAS experiment, candidates are asked at the time of application if they intend to work with the ATLAS collaboration. The appointments can be renewed for a total of up to three years, subject to satisfactory performance.

The Offer

  • Financial conditions: Fellows stipends are calculated individually – stipends are competitive and tax-free.
  • Leave: Fellows are entitled to 2.5 days paid leave per month.
  • Insurance: Fellows are covered by CERN’s comprehensive health scheme for themselves and their dependents.
  • Travel expenses: Fellows are entitled to travel expenses for themselves and their family (unless stipulated otherwise on their contract).
  • Fellows may be entitled to an installation grant, family allowance and child allowance. We also offer help with finding suitable accommodation via the Housing Service.
