The EcoMobility Congress series enables international actors, united through mutual interest in sustainable transportation and EcoMobility, to come together to share good practices and spark synergies in a setting that promotes creative collaboration, local initiatives and the EcoMobility agenda.

The EcoMobility Congress series was inaugurated in 2011 in Changwon, Rep. of Korea by Mayor Park Wan-Su. The second edition of the Congress took place in 2013 in Suwon, Rep. of Korea and the third edition will take place in the city of Johannesburg, S. Africa in October 2015.

Junior Officer, EcoMobility

in the EcoMobility Congress Team at the ICLEI World Secretariat in Bonn, Germany.

Tasks include:

The tasks of the assistant will include supporting

  • The EcoMobility Alliance activities by reaching the EcoMobility partners on the updates on the EcoMobility Congress;
  • The formulation of thematic areas for the EcoMobility Congress based on the requirements of the host city;
  • Drafting the congress program, especially descriptions for the congress sessions;
  • Engaging in dialogue with potential speakers for the congress, briefing speakers, supporting their logistical arrangements etc;
  • Keep abreast of latest developments in urban mobility;
  • The updating of content, news bits, and other information on the EcoMobility Congress website in English;

Requirements:

  • Academic background: a completed degree in urban planning, transport and mobility policy, civil engineering or related degree. Master graduates are also welcome. Knowledge of sustainable transportation issues is required;
  • Experience in the field of sustainable transportation and sustainable urban planning is essential;
  • Enthusiasm for sustainable urban transportation and EcoMobility;
  • Experience in organizing events is desired
  • Language skills: Native-level English; further languages welcome especially German;
  • Good communication skills, orally and in writing;
  • Experience in researching, editing and layouting publications are welcome;  Computer skills: Microsoft Office; experience with web content management (preferably Typo 3, word press);
  • Motivation to work in a multicultural environment.

Terms and conditions:

  • The position is available from 1 March 2015 at the ICLEI World Secretariat in Bonn and is currently limited to 31 December 2015;
  • A development of this position is possible and depends on performance and availability of projects;
  • The position is within ICLEI’s EcoMobility team and the assistant reports to the EcoMobility Program Manager;
  • ICLEI offers entry level assistants a salary of Euro 21,000 per Annum, also depending on qualification and experience;
  • Workings hours: 40h per week; 30 days of paid leave per year;
  • Working language: English.
  • The position is subject of confirmation of funding.
