Directorate: People and Services
Location: London
Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 35
Salary: £46,910

London

Permanent commencing 23 February 2018 (negotiable)

At Amnesty International (AI), our legal team don’t just review lengthy contracts. They support our researchers with reports which result in action against perpetrators of human rights abuse. In short, they make a difference. Be one of them.

About the role

In this highly reactive role, you’ll work on both administrative tasks and large-scale projects as you support our international organisation in a variety of key areas. These will include compliance issues such as legal registration, company secretarial advice and data protection, assisting in the review of major contracts and protecting our global trademarks. You’ll also provide practical, easy-to-digest advice on wider ranging legal topics, help manage ongoing litigation and review our campaigns and publications for legal risk. It’s a varied role and one where you’ll work with a wide range of people, make the most of your legal expertise and, most importantly, make a difference in the fight for human rights.

About you

Qualified to practise English law, you’ll have a background at a professional firm or in an in-house role. We’ll also expect you to have the confidence and experience needed to deal with the issues above. Driven by a commitment to our work, you might have already undertaken some voluntary or pro bono work. And whether your strengths lie in intellectual property, data protection, defamation, commercial contracts or litigation, you’ll contribute solid organisational and project management skills as well as proven initiative. What’s more, as well as being fluent in English, a confident communicator and a proven team player, you’ll have no problem translating legal jargon into layman’s terms.

About us

Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 7 million people who campaign for a world where human rights are enjoyed by all. We reach almost every country in the world and have:

  • more than 2 million members and supporters who drive forward our fight for rights

And whether we’re applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations or online campaigning, we’re all inspired by hope for a better world. One where human rights are respected and protected by everyone, everywhere.

At Amnesty International, we are passionate about what we do and we are proud of our achievements as a movement. To compensate our employees for the critical work they do, we reward them through a combination of an attractive and sector competitive salary and benefits package, high levels of engagement and involvement, and a commitment to employee development.
