Call for Participants in the Simulation Game “Fighting Right-Wing Populism in Europe”

ecmi-European-Centre-for-Minority-Issues-logoThe European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI) is looking for four participants to take part in a simulation game on the topic of “Fighting right-wing populism in Europe”, which will take place from the 29th of August to the 3rd of September 2015 in Budapest, Hungary.

The simulation game will tackle the sources, reasons, dynamics and effects of right-wing populism in contemporary Europe. Using methods specific to non-formal education, the overall objective of the project is to explore the socio-economic and political factors influencing the recent successes of right-wing populist parties in Europe and to elaborate possible strategies for dealing with this issue on a European level, through comprehensive discussion and expression of different points of view. The simulation game is part of the Erasmus + project “Fighting right-wing populism in Europe”, developed by CRISP Berlin in collaboration with the following partners: Civil (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia), CSDC (Italy), ECMI (Germany), EGEA (Moldova), European Foundation of Human Rights (Lithuania), Human Rights Initiative (Hungary), Iskra (Ukraine), NPI (Lithuania), Plural (Romania), United Society of Balkans (Greece).

Eligibility criteria:

Essential: BA degree in a discipline of the Social Sciences or Humanities; residence in Germany at the time of the program; fluency in English.

Desirable: Demonstrable interest or experience with issues related to right-wing populism, nationalism, racism, xenophobia in Europe; experience or interest in the youth work sector; familiarity with non-formal education.

The language of the simulation game is English.

There is no participation fee. The organizers (CRISP, ECMI) will cover all meals and accommodation costs (five nights, 29 August – 3 September), as well as travel costs up to a maximum of 275 EUR.
