Marketing Specialist – Europeana

Europeana-logoEuropeana is one of a kind community passionate about bringing Europe’s vast wealth of cultural heritage to the world. The Europeana Foundation exists to promote this digital cultural heritage, and to unlock it for future generations.

As the Online Marketing Specialist, you will ensure that Europeana’s online presence (websites and social media channels) is coherent and up-to-date. You will implement new concepts and strategies that will make Europeana’s cultural heritage available in new and surprising ways. As part of this role, you will be involved in the launch of some of Europeana’s first channels: thematic sub-portals on areas such as Music, Art History and Fashion. You will be able to put your great people skills into practice by collaborating and coordinating with stakeholders, both internal and external to Europeana.

The main tasks of the role are:
• Increasing the reach of partners’ collections via the active and consistent use of Europeana’s social media channels, updating Europeana’s social media channels and blogs with engaging content and stories;
• Developing and implementing engagement concepts and marketing plans that enable people to explore their heritage in innovative ways, e.g. via Mashable, Buzzfeed, Instagram and other platforms;
• Contributing to the launch and marketing of Europeana’s Art History and Music channels (more channels to follow later) by liaising with internal and external stakeholders and overseeing the content curation and marketing activities;
• Overseeing the production of and having an active involvement in the publication of new virtual exhibitions on Europeana’s own or external exhibition platforms;
• Collaborating with Europeana’s Channels Team and Content Sourcing Assistant on a daily basis.

Requirements / Qualifications
• University degree and a robust work experience with a minimum of three years in online marketing;
• Excellent graphic design and writing for the web skills;
• Deep understanding of web standards, SEO, social media and online marketing strategies and techniques, preferably in the area of cultural heritage;
• Ability to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders from development teams and partners to vendors and management;
• Experience with online tools such as Google Analytics and Facebook Insights;
• Fluent in English (preferably a native speaker);
• Creative, solid attention to detail, service-oriented and able to work well under pressure;
• Comfortable working in an international and complex environment.
As this is a European role, travel will form part of the job.

Salary and Benefits
You will have a good basic salary, which is in line with the Collective Labour Agreement for Research Institutes Scale 9. Depending on your experience and skills, your monthly gross salary will be between EURO 2,590 – 3,568. Additionally, you will have: 42 days of holidays per year, a holiday allowance (8%) and an annual bonus (8.3%), participation in Europeana’s pension scheme.
