Internal Audit Officer – European Medicines Agency (EMA)

ema-logoThe European Medicines Agency is seeking to recruit a competent internal audit officer. Reporting to the Head of Audit, the jobholder will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, such as providing consultancy and carrying out audits in the field of governance, internal control and risk management of all operations/systems/processes.

The European Medicines Agency is a decentralised body of the European Union with all its offices and headquarters in London. Its core responsibility is the protection and promotion of public health through the evaluation and supervision of medicines.

This selection procedure aims at building a reserve list for long-term Contract Staff. The contract duration is five years and the contract is renewable. The monthly net basic salary is € 4,031.83. Allowances and benefits (eg for child education) are paid in addition to the basic salary.

Candidates on the valid reserve list may also be considered for a different position within the same function group if the job specification and the nature of the role are similar.

Specific objectives:

The successful candidate is expected to carry out the following tasks:

  • Perform internal audits in accordance with IIA standards on all operations/systems/processes related to the Agency’s tasks as well as management and control systems put in place, focusing on compliance with all the relevant regulatory and internal requirements, efficiency and effectiveness of arrangements put in place;
  • Identify audit scope and develop a risk-based audit plan for engagements in accordance with the recognized standards;
  • Make recommendations on the systems and procedures being reviewed, report on the findings and recommendations and monitor management’s response and implementation;
  • Contribute to the preparation, monitoring and reviewing of the internal audit plan, field work and audit report, including an assessment of the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of the agency’s internal control systems ;
  • Conduct any reviews or tasks requested by the line manager, Executive Director and management, provided that such reviews do not compromise the independence and objectivity of the internal audit function;
  • Perform the tasks of the Lead Auditor.
