Graduate (GRAD) – Project Finance Monitoring, European Investment Bank (EIB)

eib-logoThe EIB is looking for the Transaction Management & Restructuring Directorate (TMR) – Project Finance and Public Sector Division (PFP) a: Graduate (GRAD) – Project Finance Monitoring

The Transaction Management & Restructuring Directorate (TMR) proactively follows the EIB loan book, post-signature, enabling the EIB to act on post-signature events and to maintain the credit quality of its operations.

Accountabilities

The Graduate will provide assistance to the Head of the PFP Division and will support more senior officers in carrying out monitoring tasks, including financial and contractual analysis, internal and external reporting, preparation of correspondence, communication with clients, and maintenance of a monitoring database for the team’s Project Finance portfolio.

More specifically s/he will:

  • Check Borrowers’ compliance with contractual obligations, including financial information and covenants, and update the Project Finance (PF) portfolio’s Monitoring Programme accordingly
  • Create new Monitoring Programmes and Slotting Reports for new projects handed over to TMR by Front Office Lending Operations teams
  • Assist in taking remedial action in case of non-compliance with information covenants
  • Cross-check key PF reporting (i.e. Monitoring Programmes and PF Events list) against data stored in the electronic document management database, and update information as and when necessary
  • Retrieve deal documents from online data sites such as De-links or Intra-links, and ensure links are accessible by renewing passwords when expired
  • Analyse external reports and documentation posted on external deal sites, and provide PF officers with brief summaries of the main points
  • Assist with basic waivers and consents, such as approvals of updated financial models
  • Provide support for slottings (annual reviews of PF transactions)
  • Assist in the preparation of internal notes
  • Manage electronic documents and online storage of project documentation, including legal documents, borrowers’ reporting information and waivers/consents related documentation
  • Update, “tidy up” and maintain consistency of electronic filing
  • Perform other PF monitoring tasks as and when required

Qualifications

  • University degree in a business related subject, preferably in Finance and/or with training in financial analysis
  • Demonstrable statistical/analytical skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Tools (Word, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Experience in the use of Electronic Document Management databases and reporting tools such as Business Objects would be also an advantage
  • In view of the nature of the PF activities, any previous junior experience in PF would be an advantage
  • Very good knowledge of English and/or French and a good command of the other. Knowledge of other languages, would be an advantage
