European Network Agains Racism (ENAR) – Communication Internship




European-Network-Against-Racism-ENARCommunication Internship – as from November 2016

ENAR has a permanent staff of nine persons. They welcome interns with a genuine interest in being part of our team and in gaining experience on anti-racism communication and advocacy at the European level. At the same time, they value their insights and appreciate their input and energy.

With the aim of achieving an ethnic and gender balance in its team, ENAR endeavours to provide an optimum social and learning environment to its interns. People from groups affected by racial, ethnic or religious discrimination are encouraged to join our team.

Conditions

Please note that the internship must be part of university studies and that they require a written agreement between the intern’s university/school, ENAR and the intern. The internship should be for a period of at least 3 months or longer and is full time. Any applications that do not respond to these requirements will not be considered.

Internships are unpaid and ENAR does not provide any financial support.

The intern will be involved in the following tasks:

Under the supervision of the Communication & Press Officer, the intern will:
- Monitor daily news relating to racism, anti-racism, diversity, migration, etc.
- Research information for and compile ENAR’s electronic Weekly Mail
- Monitor and develop content ENAR’s social media tools – Facebook & Twitter
- Provide support in developing ENAR communication materials
- Provide support in updating ENAR’s website
- Monitor press coverage
- Assist in the organisation of press events
- Assist with administrative/editing/miscellaneous tasks

Qualifications required

- Relevant degree in communications, public relations, journalism and/or social/political sciences
- Fluent written and spoken English is essential (fluency in French is an advantage)
- Familiarity with using social media tools, especially Facebook and Twitter
- Good computer skills – experience with design and web publishing tools an advantage
- Ability to present data and complex issues in a comprehensible and media-friendly language
- Diligence, accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Committed and flexible team-player, able to work in a multicultural environment
- Committed to the struggle against racism and the promotion of equal rights
