EUROHEALTHNET RECRUITS A PHASE LIAISON OFFICER

The role of the PHASE liaison officer is to monitor EU policies, activities and programmes, to successfully liaise with key stakeholders and support practical activities, and to identify opportunities for advocacy. This will include analysing the relevant components of the EU work programme, the EU Semester and helping to ensure the network is well positioned to support the Social Change and Innovation (EaSI) and Health for Growth programmes amongst others.

Responsibilities

  • Policy monitoring: using our subscriptions to news and information services, you will maintain an online dossier of information for our members and office about EU policy and programme developments.
  • Liaison: in cooperation with colleagues, you will build, report and maintain links with key people at national level institutions and in the EC (EMPL, SANTE, CONNECT, EAC), EP and Council Presidencies, plus contact with COR and ESC and other EU agencies e.g. Eurofound etc.
  • Intelligence gathering: you will contribute to the team’s engagement with relevant stakeholders e.g. EU Health Policy Forum and EU Poverty Platform members, and network to find out in the fastest possible way what is happening in our fields.
  • Identifying opportunities: you will seek out and help us to anticipate opportunities for advocacy, policy and programme development of the network, including opportunities to contribute to policy consultations and informing legislation development.
  • Events and documents: as part of a team, you will help organise country visits and will take an active role in drafting policy précis, blogs, and responses to consultations.
  • Contributing to cross-cutting network work programme elements: as part of a team, you will actively work on internal and external communications, fundraising, membership recruitment, capacity building and knowledge development, administration and events organisation.

Profile

Essential

  • You are educated to at least degree level in a relevant field and have a minimum of 3 years working experience;
  • You have good knowledge of the policy making processes at the European level and of the EU institutions;
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (native speaker level), and have proven experience in writing articles, blogs, news releases, reports and policy papers (in English). English writing skills will be tested during the interview;
  • You can deliver high-quality results in a timely fashion and are comfortable working on your own as well as in teams;
  • You are able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously to meet rapidly changing projects and priorities;
  • You are rigorous and organised, with attention to detail;
  • You have good communication and relationship-building skills;
  • You have a pro-active, flexible and ‘hands-on’ approach to work;

Desirable

The following skills and experience are additional assets to your application:

  • Knowledge of other European languages;
  • Previous work experience within an organisation working on public health and/or social equity issues;
  • Website and social media management.

Practicalities

  • This position is offered full-time for one year, with possibility of extension. It will be offered according to Belgian national legislation.
  • The liaison officer will report directly to EuroHealthNet’s PHASE Senior Co-ordinator.
  • All applicants must be qualified, eligible and able to work in Belgium.  We are unfortunately not able to provide financial assistance to relocate to Brussels/Belgium.
