Call for Team Members for European Youth Press’ Orange Magazine

The European Youth Press – Orange Magazine team has an open call for team members.

They are looking for people aged 18-28 from European countries for the following positions:

  • Project Manager
  • Online Content Editor
  • Designer for our new website
  • Photographer / Video producer
  • Data Journalist / Writer

The Orange Magazine team works on a volunteer basis, but travels for free around Europe and covers major media events. Our current partners and most recent events are European Youth Media Days in Brussels and Strasbourg, M100 Young European Journalists and Sanssouci Colloquium, Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum.

As the team works mostly remotely, you can be based just anywhere in Europe, but you have to be ready to dedicate 10-15 hours a month to Orange and be ready to travel and cover international events when you’ll meet up with other team members for projects.

The following positions are open for applications:

Project Manager

Responsibilities: Your responsibility will be to write project applications for funding.

Eligibility: The ideal Project Manager will have proven experience in writing and implementation of European and international (youth) projects. Additionally, budget management skills are also essential.

Content Editor

Responsibilities: You will organise and upload articles and other materials to the Orange magazine new website. At the current moment this will include our previous and ongoing projects, but in the future you will be able to work on your own content at our upcoming projects.

Eligibility: Experience in dealing with WordPress; basic HTML and experience with various design programmes is a bonus. You need to have good editorial skills. Social media expertise is welcomed.

Designer

Responsibilities: Managing both the overall visual image of the Orange Magazine (layouting new editions, keeping the website fresh and visually attractive). The designer has the opportunity to work on the magazine’s layout, design simpler day-to-day materials as well sa be in charge of their own project.

Eligibility: Experience with WordPress, Typo 3, Adobe Creative Suite, sound editing with Audacity and Cubase4, Video editing with Premiere CS5 and Final Cut Express, good command of After Effects CS5.

Photographer / Video Producer

Responsibilities: The photographer / video producer will cover various events and support the visual team with materials. He/she is able to create short 3-5 videos as well as record interviews.

Eligibility: Experience in video production, shooting, editing and camera shooting. You will have to provide your own camera equipment, including portable tripod. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, sound editing and video editing software, good command of After Effects CS5.

Data Journalist / Writer

About the Magazine

Orange Magazine is an event journal (print and online) created by the European Youth Press (EYP) that aims to provide journalistic education to young journalists by giving them room to explore media issues and current affairs. Young European journalists are immersed in a subject through visiting different countries and producing content that is straight-forward and cuts to the heart of the pressing issues of the day.

Orange Magazine introduces journalists to a wide range of topics from global media policy, immigration, conflicts, environmental issues and social justice.
